The whole world sees itself as outrageously righteous, and I am no exception. From
the most foolish of us to the most wise, pretty much to a person we are all sure
we’re right, even when facts prove we aren’t. It is a rarity to even consider that
there could be another way and it could be the right one, especially when that other
way ain’t yours. Never, ever is the devil given his due, just doesn’t happen
now-a-days, but I am gonna try, even if fatal. At the memorial for the slain Dallas
police officers, former president Dubya gave an excellent speech. Known more for
his Bush-isms and unfound WMD’s in Iraq, at least one line in said speech I
thought was extremely remarkable and I quote:
“Too often, we judge other groups by their worst examples, while judging ourselves by our
best intentions. And this has strained our bonds of understanding and common
purpose.”
Easily one of the most intelligent things any of us morons have ever said.
I am, therefore I think.
