The Golfing Gods have spoken

Once upon a time, every year at Augusta’s Mt. Olympus they contest, then anoint.

There’s always names: Freddy, Phil, Rory, Bubba, Dustin,  Ian, Vijay, Bernhard…

There’s some magic involved.  This year, when Tiger played and rolled in an eagle,

there was some yelling (“He’s baack!”)  When journeyman extraordinaire Charley

Hoffman made a very appropo, almost karmic ace, there was some screaming.

To his credit, there was some joyful jumping up and down too.

There was John Rahm not crying when his ball hit ground and rolled in water.

He just kept playing.  There was Jordan Spieth being his awesome self.  Then

there was The Man from Orange making his charge.  None of which fazed

the leader, Patrick Reed. He just sailed on thru.  He didn’t critterise, didn’t

dehumanize, didn’t demonize, just let his sticks do the talking.

In other words, won with class.

But that was then, this is now. It’s Monday morn, 10:18, do you know where

your clubs are?

no news is Good News

Could the best evidence be no evidence?  Maybe it’s a good thing that there’s

been no archeaologist at a tomb found around Jerusalem, you know, the

words, “here lie the remains of Jesus Christ” chiseled in stone, no

backhoe rolling back a boulder, no Geraldo rushing in, saying “there

appear to be skeletal remains of a man with holes in his feet

and hands, a wound in his side – yes, this man has been crucified!”

Not that something like that wouldn’t be good for T.V. – (and there

would be T.V.), but just maybe the truth in this case would be that

the Spirit outlasted the flesh yet again???

Naaa…

“Waiting is fullness”

Which is probably why this is just now getting writ.  My favorite Martian

(not the T.V. character) is actually the Stranger in a Strange Land, a book by

Robert Heinlein.  Yup, a science fictional character by the name of

Valentine Michael Smith, raised on Mars by Martians, was imaginated by

a writer, who also thought up an entire language, coined some great

phrases (one of which is waiting is fullness) and created

his own word (grok) which is actually in the dictionary.

He also incorporated a new religion into the book,

( The Church of All Worlds) and described the first waterbed,

which was made some years later.

Published in 1961, it was named by the Library of Congress as one

of the Books that Shaped America, and if you haven’t read it,

you should.

In denial

Ok, probably jumping the shark here, but not coming from the

school of fishes that swear there  is no such thing as water, and

having incontrovertible proof that there is no proof of any

such thing, I hereby proclaim that I know that I don’t know

any better. (insane disclaimer)

Besides, jumping sharks could be an exciting spectator sport,

fit for T.V. viewing or even olympic contests, with visions of

Arnie’s The Running Man dancing in my head.

So right angling to the point here, there is no Easter bunny.

It’s a total fabrication, a ruse to take your mind off the real

deal.  There, I said it.
